Visiting New York for a second time this year has been such a unique experience. A few weeks ago I flew back again, this time with my traveling partner and with a much wider schedule which led us to discover not only delicious food and coffee spots, but also snap worthy!
Visitar Nueva York por segunda vez este año ha sido toda una experiencia. Hace un par de semanas volé de vuelta, esta vez con mi compañera de viaje y con una agenda mucho más holgada, lo cual nos llevó a conocer no sólo lugares de comida y café deliciosos, ¡sino que también ameritan foto!
874, 6th Avenue.
As we were walking around I couldn't help but crave coffee. There's a coffee shop every corner and I was lucky to find this one on my way. Gregory's Coffee looked like the place I'd like to enjoy my drink in a cold day and stay warm and cozy inside. Their menu has a variety of unique flavors, I ordered the Honey Badger: cold brew, almond milk, and honey—strong but sweet.
Mientras caminábamos no me podía aguantar las ganas de un café. Hay una coffee shop por lo menos en cada esquina y tuve suerte de encontrarme con esta. Gregory's Coffee parece el tipo de lugar donde me gustaría disfrutar de mi bebida en un día frío y quedarme adentro calientita y cómoda. Su menú tiene una variedad de sabores únicos, yo pedí un Honey Badger: café frío, leche de almendra y miel—fuerte pero dulce.
181 E, Houston Street.
They claim to be the healthiest cafe in New York and I'm sure I agree. They offer house-made vegan "mylks": almond, coconut, and cashew. I ordered a coconut latte and the mylk flavor was a little too strong for my taste (too healthy, maybe?). I ended up drinking my friend's almond latte and I surely enjoyed that one! Dr. Smood offers a completely vegan menu with a wide variety of drinks and meals.
Se auto-proclaman el café más sano de todo Nueva York y estoy muy de acuerdo. Ofrecen leches veganas hechas en casa: almendra, coco y nuez de la India. Yo probé un latte de coco y el sabor de la "mylk" (así llaman a su leche) era un poco fuerte para mi gusto (¿muy nutritivo, tal vez?). Terminé tomándome el latte de almendra de mi amiga ¡y definitivamente me gustó ese! Dr. Smood ofrece un menú completamente vegano con una gran variedad de bebidas y alimentos.

Pink galore could be a way to describe this place. If you haven't seen Pietro Nolita all over Instagram then you're not following enough bloggers. With "Pink As Fuck" being their slogan, everything in this place is covered in a shade of pink, not only the 50-60s retro style on the inside but also the most instagrammable facade ever. The best thing is that the food is also very good. With a mix of healthy and Italian food, Pietro Nolita is definitely a must if you're in the area (and also if you're not).
Montones de rosa sería una forma de describir este lugar. Si nunca has visto Pietro Nolita por todo Instagram entonces no estás siguiendo suficientes bloggers. Con "Pink As Fuck" siendo su slogan, todo en este lugar está cubierto de algún tono de rosa, no sólo el interior con su estilo retro de 50s-60s sino también la fachada más instagrameable que hay. Lo mejor es que la comida es también muy buena. Con una mezcla de comida saludable e italiana, Pietro Nolita es definitivamente un must si estás en el área (y si no lo estás, también).

In my previous visit to NY I walked past this place only to find it already closed. I finally got to try it and went for a good Matcha Latte. As I was sitting in this cute corner contemplating all the pink and botanical vibes around me, I found out that there was also a matcha ice cream machine which I wish I could try but I was already full by then. Cha Cha Matcha is very pink and is full of artsy corners that can be perfect to snap your drink.
En visita anterior a NY pasé por este lugar sólo para darme cuenta que ya estaba cerrado. Por fin tuve la oportunidad de probarlo y escogí un buen Matcha Latte. Mientras estaba sentada en esa linda esquina contemplando las vibras rosas y botánicas del lugar, me di cuenta que había también una máquina de helados de matcha que me hubiera gustado probar pero para ese entonces ya estaba muy llena. Cha Cha Matcha es muy rosa y lleno de cositas de arte que lo hacen perfecto para tomar una foto de tu bebida.
23 W, 33rd Street.
Being the Mexicans that we are, tacos are always attractive when we're far from home and hungry. Tacombi is exactly what a classic Taquería (taco shop) looks like in Mexico, although more polished. The colors, the typography on the walls, the pencils to choose from the menu, everything reminisces my beautiful Mexico. The tacos were really good and well served, even the salsas were more spicy than I thought. I found out there are more Tacombi around NY, I'd recommend visiting them on the daytime to really catch the vibrant colors on a photo.
Siendo las mexicanas que somos, los tacos siempre son una opción atractiva cuando estamos lejos de casa y hambrientas. Tacombi es exactamente lo que una Taquería clásica luce en México, aunque más refinada. Los colores, la tipografía en las paredes, los lápices para elegir del menú, todo me recuerda a mi bello México. Los tacos estaban muy buenos y bien servidos, incluso las salsas picaban más de lo que pensé. Descubrí que habían más Tacombi alrededor de NY, recomendaría que los visitaran de día para poder capturar los colores brillantes en las fotos.
SOMEWHERE IN LITTLE ITALY
Mulberry Street, Lower Manhattan.
I had already loved Little Italy, I can't remember the name of this restaurant but anywhere on this street looks like they make the most delicious Italian food. I only ordered a Tiramisú (and a Cappuccino that never appeared) because I had already binged at China Town, but my friend Ale went for a full meal with a really good Lasagna (she approved this review). All of Little Italy is pretty, the tables on the outside, the decor, the smell. Even if you don't stop to eat, I'd recommend walking down the street for some photos.
Ya me había enamorado de Little Italy, no puedo recordar el nombre de este restaurante pero cualquier lugar en esta calle se ve como si hicieran la comida italiana más deliciosa. Yo sólo ordené un Tiramisú (y un Cappuccino que jamás apareció) porque ya me había llenado en China Town, pero mi amiga Ale pidió una enorme lasaña que estaba muy rica (ella misma aprobó esta reseña). Todo Little Italy está bonito, las mesas afuera, la decoración, el olor. Incluso si no te paras a comer en un lugar, te recomiendo que camines por la calle para tomar fotos.
30 Prince Street.
Our last spot of the trip was a well-deserved coffee with a sweet side. The Little Cupcake Bakeshop is one of the places that we stumbled upon once and made sure to come back to actually sit there and enjoy what they offered. The coffee was really, really good! It wasn't too strong and it tasted milky sweet, freshly made in the NY State. If you're in the mood for a sweet treat, this is the place to get yourself on top of a chair to snap the perfect flatlay and enjoy one of their home-baked cupcakes, cookies, or cheesecakes in every possible flavor.
Nuestro último lugar del viaje fue un bien merecido café con algo dulce para acompañar. The Little Cupcake Bakeshop es uno de los lugares con los que nos topamos y nos aseguramos de regresar para sentarnos y disfrutar de lo que ofrecen. ¡El café estaba muy, muy rico! No era muy fuerte y sabía a leche dulce, fresca y hecha en el estado de NY. Si tienes ganas de algo dulce, este es el lugar para pararte en una silla y tomar la foto de flatlay perfecto y disfrutar de alguno de sus panqués, galletas o pasteles que tienen en todos los sabores posibles.
