Finding the perfect foundation can be one of the hardest things in the beauty world. Depending on your skin type your necessities might differ from other people's choices. I recently got to try out the Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation and the new Foundation Stick and Concealers that were added to the line.
Encontrar la base perfecta puede ser una de las cosas más difíciles en el mundo de la belleza. Dependiendo del tipo de piel que tienes tus necesidades pueden diferir de las de otras personas. Recientemente pude probar la base Teint Idole Ultra Wear de Lancôme y el nuevo Maquillaje en Barra y Corrector que se agregaron a la gama.
Let's start by saying this: my skin is a bit dry because the temperature dropped out of nowhere (we even had snow!) and I get dry patches everywhere, especially around my nose. Testing these products at this moment was very important because it's when I need to look the best. Although the foundation has been around for a while, the Sticks and Concealers are new, none of these had I tried before.
Empecemos con decir esto: mi piel está un poco seca porque la temperatura bajó de la nada (incluso tuvimos nieve!) y me aparecen parches de sequedad en todos lados, en especial alrededor de mi nariz. Probar estos productos en este momento fue muy importante porque es cuando quiero lucir mejor. Aunque la base ya tenía tiempo en el mercado, las Barras y Correctores son nuevos, que ninguno he probado antes.
THE FOUNDATION
This product claims to be a 24H wear base that doesn't need to be retouched. This gave me the idea that it was going to be matte, but not at all. The finish is quite luminous, leaves the skin looking a bit like silk. It has a low SPF so you can definitely wear it from day to night and not worry about flashbacks. I used a full pump to get a nice coverage, focusing mainly on the center on my face. My skin looked very even and the color match was perfect for me (01 Beige Albâtre). It doesn't cling to dry patches and leaves a very smooth and natural perfected skin. I applied it with the brush that came with it, although I feel like it's a bit too small for my taste so I then switched to my usual buffer brush to spread it out and it blended with my skin easily.
Este producto dice ser una base de duración de 24H que no necesita ser retocada. Esto me dio la impresión de que será matte, aunque no fue así. El acabado es muy luminoso, deja la piel luciendo como seda. Tiene FPS bajo por lo que puedes usarla desde el día hasta la noche sin preocuparte por el reflejo del flash. Usé un pump completo para una cobertura bastante buena, enfocándome principalmente en el centro de la cara. Mi piel lucía muy pareja de tono y el tono de la base era perfecto para mí (01 Beige Albâtre). No se adhiere a las áreas secas de la piel y la deja luciendo suave y perfeccionada. La apliqué con la brocha que venía con la base, aunque siento que es muy pequeña para mi gusto, así que cambié a mi brocha usual para esparcirla y se difuminó muy fácilmente en la piel.
THE CONCEALERS
When I first received the package the first product that I tried that same day were the concealers. Although the shade range is very small I think the consistency is perfect for thinning it out or adjusting the color with the base, since it's very liquidy. The lightest shade was a great match for me, I used it under my eyes and on blemishes with a small brush. A little goes a very long way, it's a little thick but it doesn't feel heavy. I've been wearing it a lot lately and it stays put for so long and doesn't cake up. I don't think you need to powder it but my skin is a little dry so if you're oily you might want to test it without setting it first. I've used it on my friends when I do their makeup for nights out and I've noticed it stays well put on them too.
Cuando recién recibí el paquete el primer producto que probé ese mismo día fueron los correctores. Aunque la gama de tonos sea muy pequeña creo que la consistencia es perfecta para rebajarse o ajustar el color con la base, ya que es muy líquida. El tono más claro fue el mejor para mi, lo usé debajo de mis ojos y en imperfecciones con una brocha pequeña. La cantidad más pequeña te da para mucho, es un poco denso pero no se siente pesado. Lo he estado usando mucho últimamente y se queda en su lugar todo el tiempo sin verse pastoso. No creo que necesites polvo pero mi piel es algo seca, si eres de piel grasa te recomiendo que lo pruebes sellándolo ligeramente primero. Lo he usado en mis amigas cuando las maquillo para la noche y me he fijado que se queda bien en ellas también.
THE FOUNDATION STICKS
I received three shades of the Foundation Sticks: 01 Beige Albâtre, 007 Beige Rose, and 048 Beige Châtaigne. From what I see, the first one is an exact match to my foundation, meaning I can wear it as my base. Beige Rose is a bit more ashy, perfect for contour. Lastly, the shade Beige Châtaigne is a bit warmer than my natural tone so it can be used to give dimension to my face or to darken my foundation if I get a little tan. As for the formula, I know it can sound scary to think of a base in a stick, I used to believe they were dry, but not at all! These are very veeery creamy and super blendable. The pigmentation is a little intense so you need a very small amount. The little brush was perfect for contour with just a small swipe of the Beige Rose stick. These are meant to be great for touchups, just dab a small amount on your fingers to warm it up a bit and apply in the areas where you feel that you've lost coverage throughout the day. Funny thing is that I didn't even need to touch up my makeup after using the liquid base and the concealer.
Recibí tres tonos de las Bases en Barra: 01 Beige Albâtre, 007 Beige Rose y 048 Beige Châtaigne. Por lo que veo, el primero es un tono idéntico a mi base, lo que significa que puedo usarlo como maquillaje completo. Beige Rose es un poco más cenizo, perfecto para esculpir. Por último, el tono Beige Châtaigne es un poco más cálido que mi tono natural de piel así que puedo usar para darle dimensión a mi rostro o para obscurecer mi maquillaje si me bronceo un poco. En cuanto a la fórmula, sé que puede sonar mal pensar en una base en barra, yo solía pensar que eran muy secas, ¡pero no! Estas son muy muuuy cremosas y fáciles de difuminar. La pigmentación es un poco intensa así que necesitas muy poco. La brocha fue perfecta para el contour con solo una pequeña raya de la barra Beige Rose. Estos están diseñados para retoques, solo aplica un poco en tus dedos para amoldar el producto y luego lo aplicas en las áreas donde sientas que has perdido cobertura durante el día. Lo gracioso es que ni si quiera necesité retocar mi maquillaje después de usar la base líquida y los correctores.
THE WEAR TEST
I applied the foundation first without a primer and using my regular moisturizer. I used a full pump and focused more on the center of my face, which is where I have the most discoloration. I think the coverage is medium but definitely buildable, I added a bit more foundation that I had left on the back of my hand to my cheeks after I finished spreading it out with my buffing brush. I used the stick in Beige Rose to carve out my cheekbones very slightly, I think it looks really natural. I then used the shade Beige Châtaigne on my forehead and outer perimeters of my face to bronze a bit and add dimension. I used the concealer mainly under my eyes and a bit on my imperfections. The way that my skin looks is just how I like it, it has a natural luminosity and doesn't look too perfected or cakey.
Apliqué la base primero sin usar primer y con mi crema regular. Usé un pump completo y me enfoqué más al centro de mi rostro que es donde más tengo decoloración. Creo que la cobertura es media pero definitivamente se puede intensificar con capas, agregué un poco de la base que me quedó en la mano a mis mejillas después de esparcirla con una brocha buffer. Usé la barra en el tono Beige Rose para esculpir el rostro levemente, creo que se ve muy natural. Después usé el tono Beige Châtaigne en mi frente y los demás perímetros exteriores de la cara para broncearla y dar más dimensión. Usé el corrector principalmente bajo mis ojos y un poco en mis imperfecciones. La manera en que se ve mi piel es justo como me gusta, tiene luminosidad natural pero no muy perfeccionada ni pastosa.
I then proceeded to do the rest my makeup, I did a very natural look so that my skin would be the main attention. I wore this makeup for about 12 hours and it stayed in place, even the sticks, nothing looked faded after all those hours. I intensified my makeup for the night and added just a few dots of the Beige Albâtre Stick, one on my forehead, one of each cheek, and one on the tip of my nose because it was freezing outside and mine gets all red. I did realize that the stick foundation was sitting on my fine lines on my forehead by the end of the night and it looked slightly dry. I think this can be solved by wearing a very intense moisturizer first and a pore minimizing primer, which I will do from now on.
Después proseguí a maquillar el resto de mi cara, hice un look muy natural porque quería que la piel fuera el centro de atención. Usé este maquillaje por casi 12 horas y se quedó en su lugar, incluso las barras, nada se veía desvanecido después de todas esas horas. Intensifiqué mi maquillaje para la noche y agregué un par de puntos de la Barra en Beige Albâtre, uno en la frente, uno en cada mejilla, y uno en a punta de mi nariz porque hacía mucho frío y se me pone la nariz roja. Me di cuenta que el maquillaje en barra se había sentado un poco en las líneas de mi frente para el final de la noche y se veía un poco seco. Creo que esto puede arreglarse usando una crema hidratante muy intensa y un primer para minimizar poros, cosa que haré de ahora en adelante.
